The Estate
Boongarrie Estate lies on the northern slopes of Keynes Hill in Eden Valley, at an elevation of 430 to 460 metres. Our ten-hectare vineyard was originally planted in 1998 to Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon and partially replanted in 2021 with Riesling, Grenache and Gamay. These estate vines supply the grapes for our wines, while the adjacent four-hectare olive grove provides the fruit for our olive oils.
Boongarrie Estate
Boongarrie Estate lies in the high eastern reaches of the Barossa Ranges. Shallow soils and low rainfall naturally limit vine vigour, shaping our attentive approach to vineyard management. With limited water availability, we tend the vines closely throughout the growing season.
These conditions produce balanced, expressive wines with finesse and elegance — distinctly different from the bolder styles more common on the Barossa Valley floor. Each vintage reflects the unique character of the site and the nuances of the season.

Our Approach to Farming
We farm Boongarrie Estate with a focus on long-term soil health and minimal intervention. In our dry conditions we manage water carefully, maintain cover crops and natural vegetation where possible, and integrate our sheep and alpacas to naturally control under-vine growth. These practices nurture a balanced ecosystem and allow the vineyard and olive grove to express the true character of the site and season in our wines and olive oils.
Our Olive Grove
Boongarrie Estate’s four-hectare olive grove is planted to Manzanillo, Pendolino and Kalamata varieties. The olives are harvested about one month after the grapes, extending our season on the estate. The resulting extra virgin olive oil is fruity and gently spicy — particularly well suited to fresh salads, ripe tomatoes and warm sourdough bread.
