Description
As our 2021 Shiraz approaches its final pages, a new chapter begins with the release of our
2022 vintage.
This is a rare chance to explore both — a vertical comparison of two distinct seasons, side by
side.
A dedicated portion of Boongarrie vineyard known as the House Block is designated for
cultivating the Shiraz grapes used in this wine. The area features an ironstone base with
deep red soil, and the vines stem from cuttings of an ancient, distinguished vineyard nearby.
Harvesting occurs during the cool night using a destemming harvester when the grapes
reach their initial peak of ripeness. The wine boasts flavors reminiscent of sage, graphite,
and mulberry. It undergoes fermentation in small open fermenters and is then aged in both
new and seasoned fine-grained French oak barrels for three years, promising excellent aging
potential.
